Ride News / Relocations / Removals

Big Dipper recently showed up on 2 different used ride sites. It is on Used Rides website listed inder Refrence Number: 40663. It is also listed on IRG's website listed under Refrence Number:RC1114. I guess APEX Western Machinery Movers has given up trying to find someone to pay them to relocate and rebuild it. I think this is a positive step.

In November WKYC reported that ACE gave Big Dipper landmark status. Don't think the battle to save Big Dipper is over though. ACE landmark status doesn't protect it. Though it is still a step in the right direction.

Ripcord (Skycoaster) which sold at auction for $85,000 is now up for sale by 3rd party company ITAL International LLC. It is listed under Reference Number:1125. The asking price is $105,000. It is still on site at Geauga Lake.

Sky Scraper (Intamin Space Tower) which sold at auction to Ralph Plumpton of RP Motors for $12,500 resold on eBay for $50,000. It was sold again by 3rd party company ITAL International LLC. It was listed under Reference Number: 1109. I'm presuming it sold for the list price of $69,000. During July 2009 the ride was disassembld and removed from the site. With the low value of scrap in 2009, I'm assuming the ride will be used in some manner. If I learn of it's new location, I'll post it here.

On July 8th, 2008 APEX Western Machinery Movers resold Raging Wolf Bobs to Ray Edgehouse Jr. for an unknown amount. Ray Edgehouse Jr. then donated a 16-foot long by 9-foot wide by 5-foot high section of track and an original coaster car to the Geauga County Historical Society's Century Village. The society said ARMS Trucking and Ronyak Paving Company, both of Burton, donated their time and equipment to bring the section of track and the coaster car to Century Village on East Park Street in downtown Burton. Most of the coaster is still on site at Geauga Lake.

On Tuesday & Wednesday June 17th & 18th, 2008 Norton Auctioneers hosted an auction for Geauga Lake's remaining rides, equipment and memorabilia. The full brochure can be seen and downloaded here. Take note that there were some late additions to the auction.

Beaver Land Mine Ride - Sold and Relocated to Papea City in Yvré-l'Evêque, Pays de la Loire, France. It is under construction and will reopen as Roller Coaster in 2009.(Click on the 3rd circle)
It is generally thought that most if not all of the attractions purchased by Jeff Henry of Schlitterbahn Waterparks would be relocated to the (now under construction) Schlitterbahn Vacation Village set to open sometime in the summer of 2009. However, they could end up anywhere or even be refurbished and resold. The list of rides purchased includes but may not be limited to the following: Shark Attack, Turtle Beach tube slides, The entire Kids Play Zone/Rocket Sled ride (SCS), Gotcha Games Foam Factory (SCS), Time Warp (Chance Double Inverter), Boardwalk Typhoon (Eli Bridge Scrambler), Bounty (Chance Pirate Ship), Pirates Flight (Zamperla Balloon Race), 3-D Movie Theater building w/contents (Simex), The Aurora Bele & Cuyahoga Queen Ferry Boats (Skipper Line Side Wheeler Type 2), Shark Encounter Tank.
